.... when you first get back from a spell away.
With my current spell of work over, we made our way home last week end, driving down through France in light rain the whole way! It didn't stop all day, in fact. However, normal service has since resumed and it's been fine and hot for the last couple of days.
We were surprised to see the amaryllis in flower again when we returned - it normally flowers much later in the year. Elsewhere in the garden, there is plenty of growth an colour encouraged by the regular spells of rain we've had this year. Often the rain stops in early June and much starts to go brown and lifeless for a while, but not this year.
