... this year continues to be rewarding. The summer visitors are back in the valley with golden oriel, nightingales, hoopoes, cuckoos and a host of other birds regularly in evidence. The woods have a splendid show of bluebells, too.
Having said that, an unwelcome blast of arctic air produced quite a frost this morning, and I fear that we may have lost some of our more tender sowings ... the cucumbers in the polytunnel are always the most fragile. We prepared by taking down some hot charcoal and ash from the fire, which we left in the tunnel, but whether it was enough to keep away the frost remains to be seen.
It seems we are in for en even harder frost tonight which is very bad news indeed, so late in the season :(
Have you sampled any of the live recordings of choral music featured on the Moments Musicaux page of the website?
Or there's a Christmas Carol selection available here.
