... finally broke over night with some heavy spells of rain. Fortunately they didn't move in until after dark yesterday, so a trip up to Poitiers, with the help of a friend's van, enabled us to pick up another water tank - this one for our new vegetable garden.
I spent the morning, among other jobs, making washers and fitting the tap, which doesn't come as standard since they are used tanks which we get at a very good price. We filled the tank from another so it's ready to go now.
After fixing some guttering and a quick trip to the supermarket, I finally put my mind to making a suitable pulley to carry the winch cable on the antenna tower - a job which has been on the "to do" list for years ! I picked up a furniture leg at the DIY shop and drilled out the centre before forcing in a piece of metal tube. The action of the whole mechanism is much improved with this modification as there was significant friction between the cable and the metal rod under the previous arrangement.
