Every year, in the spring, the spindle tree in the garden is stripped bear of all its leaves by caterpillars, consequently it has only ever produced the occasional berry.
This spring, however, the caterpillars never came and the tree was a mass of growth such as I've never seen before. The result is a striking crop of bright pink berries with which the tree is currently covered.
