It's been over 44°c ..

... most days this week, and the storms forecast for last night didn't happen, so our surroundings are well and truly parched right now.
In the cool of the morning we managed to give the workshop a coat of varnish the other day, but it has been more or less impossible to work outside in this heat.
With the second DC 242 + finisher in place, the office has taken on its new look.  Resolution of the fault with the finisher required a small modification - the addition of a strategically located rubber foot - to achieve reliability, but that done, it now seems to be behaving well.

More very hot weather ...

43°+ Temperature

... this week, with temperatures daily into the low 40s.

The garden is looking very parched and brown as a consequence.

On the positive side, I finally cracked the problem with the Xerox finisher yesterday, so that is now fully operational.  It turned out to be a mechanical rather than an electrical problem.

A visit to Chauvigny ...

... was part of the week end.  My brother and his wife were visiting so as well as taking part in the annual meal arranged by our small community, we took in a trip to see Chauvigny and a visit to the brocante in Villefagnon.  The forecast wasn't that great, but in the end, apart from a heavy shower on Saturday morning, it was fine.

Temperature 41.8°c

.... over the last few days, with temperatures regularly into the 40s.

It's been a very strange year for weather so far, and the garden has not been suited at all.  The spring was too cool and wet, and now these extremes of heat have combined to produce very disappointing results.  We've lost several plants and shrubs already, and others are looking far from happy right now.

I've made a little progress diagnosing the fault in the Xerox SFN4 finisher I acquired recently.  I need to do a little more research and further tests to get right to the bottom of the problem, though.  Time has not been available for this over the last few days, but hopefully I can get to it soon.

I'm still looking for a spare slot to rebuild my wire antennas, too !

We went for a short walk in the cool of the evening yesterday and were struck by how soon the darkness fell.  The nights are certainly drawing in rapidly now - not a prospect I look forward to !

Another busy spell ....

... this last week or so, with much effort going into preparing ourselves for taking a stall at some local markets.  Sales were very disappointing however, so that idea will take a back seat for a while until the pre-Christmas period when we hope to be more successful.

Another project which has consumed significant time of late has been acquiring the replacement for my Ricoh 3800 which finally became too much effort to keep going.

A second Xerox DC 242 is now in situ, but it has needed quite a bit of time to get it up to scratch.  I got it for a very reasonable price, so I'm not complaining !  The finisher unit which came with it appears to be faulty, so that's going to be the next challenge, although if I have to abandon it,

the deal overall was still very attractive so it won't really matter.
