... continues, and this has certainly been the best February weather I've experienced in the nearly 20 years I've been living here.
The mornings continue to be chilly, although it hasn't been frosty for the last few nights, and afternoons are regularly getting into the 20s, with yesterday peaking over 26° - more reminiscent of April than February.
... is continuing and it was wall-to-wall sunshine again yesterday. It got to 22c on the deck after lunch. The pool is gradually warming - 12.5°c, but the nights are still quite long, so it's dropping back noticeably by the morning.
Spares to repair the Z5200 are hopefully on their way from HP, but as yet there's no indication as to how long we will have to wait. Fortunately there is plenty of other work to be getting on with in the meantime.
... as I turned on the HP wide format printer yesterday, there was an uncharacteristic clicking sound and it failed to boot, producing an error.
Having managed to get the computer back to some sort of reliability after last week's problems, I was hoping things might run smoothly for a bit ! It was major trouble with this printer which led to my abandoning the blog around this time last year. Things seem to be following a pattern ... first computer, then HP Z5200, just like last year :(
The problem with the printer is physical this time, which in some ways is easier. A small plastic cog wheel has broken off ... it's part of the starwheel lifting mechanism.
Today's task is to dismantle the printer further and see if there is any way of effecting a repair. Meanwhile the print jobs are piling up.
On a brighter note, the weather has settled under some high pressure and we have had a feeling of spring for the last few days. We had lunch on the deck yesterday and it got to 21c in the afternoon, after a light frost to start the day. It seems the next few days will be similar. Just as well, as we need something to lift the spirits in face of these technical problems !!
A new addition to the HTF printer line-up finally arrive today ... it took a while to get it set up, and the control software seems very reluctant to talk to the printer, but at least it's up and running, with its first order of 6k labels for a local brewery.
When there's more time I'll look further into the laggy software ... I've tried connecting via wifi and ethernet, but both behaved in the same way :(
Have you sampled any of the live recordings of choral music featured on the Moments Musicaux page of the website?
Or there's a Christmas Carol selection available here.
