.... for a couple of days this week, but yesterday was better and we were able to remove the last of the transverse beams in the deck framework. We now need some good strong sunshine to dry out what is left so that it can be treated before the reconstruction work can begin. Given it's still only the end of January, we may have to wait a bit for that to happen.
Plenty to do in the garden in the meantime, so not to worry !
... we had quite a pleasant day today, with some long sunny intervals at times. We focussed our energies on the deck project, continuing to remove the old beams. Those in the vulnerable places are significantly rotten at the joins.
One end of the deck is now completely removed, with only the foundations remaining. There's at least a couple more days of work in removing the rest of the supporting framework, all of which we are going to replace. The large hole in front of the house seems very strange, but I fear we will need to get used to it as it will be some time before things will be ready for the re-build.
Have you sampled any of the live recordings of choral music featured on the Moments Musicaux page of the website?
Or there's a Christmas Carol selection available here.
