... yesterday returning to NW England from Belfast. After a wait of 7 hours at the airport, during which time the torrential rain never stopped, the flight eventually made its way to Manchester. At the airport railway station I learned that flooding on the line meant my train could only do about half my journey. We were promised that coaches would be provided to take us onward, but of course there was no such thing. A train on a different branch line got me somewhat nearer but after that I had to rely on a friend to come out to rescue me. It was just about midnight when I finally got back.
